Summary: This is a difficult series to summarize, because of two obstacles. A)I don't want to spoil the story, since it's only 6 episodes AND B)I want to explain it to you a way that makes sense, which is difficult since this is such a strange series. Basically, FLCL is the story of a boy named Naota, who lives with his father and grandfather and hangs out with his older brother's girlfriend (since his brother is away in the United States). One day, he is hit by a girl on a Vespa named Haruko, and things just get very strange after that. Naota develops a strange bump on his head that resembles a horn, and Haruko is now following him, as though trying to get something back. When a robot comes out of Naota's head, things just get more confusing... and intriguing.

Commentary: I'm sure I'm not the only person to say that the first time I watched this series, I simply said, "HUH?!" Which is what made me watch it again, and again, and eventually buy the series on DVD, trying to make sense of it. Perhaps it is the mystery that got me hooked. I really like this series, though I'm sure I don't completely understand it. I remember reading someone say in a review that if someone tells you that they understand this series, they are a dirty dirty liar! I hear that there is a movie, and that it helps to answer many of the questions left unanswered by the series. Haven't seen it yet but I will have information on it as soon as I do.

Reasons for Rating: GREAT MUSIC! Intriguing story. I'd rate it higher but I just don't think I understand it well enough yet to rave about it. Once I get it, the rating is liable to go up.
