Summary: Aoi Sakuraba was raised believing that she would one day marry Kaoru Hanabishi. When Kaoru leaves his family, Aoi is told that she must forget about him. She has already fallen in love with him, and goes to find him eighteen years later. After finding out that she is not there to lure him back to his family, he begins to like the idea himself. But their life together will certainly not be easy.
Commentary: I checked this one out on a whim, and I didn't think I would like it very much. I was wrong. I will admit, I was expecting a cutesy romantic comedy, but Ai Yori Aoshi is really much darker than one would guess. Though in many ways it is a romantic, cutesy story, it touches on deeper aspects. I really enjoyed Ai Yori Aoshi.
