Darkside Blues

Length: 83 minutes

Directed by: Yoshimichi Furukawa

Characters:

Summary: In the future, 90 percent of the world is owned by Persona, a corporation. One of the small regions not owned by Persona is Kabuki Town, also known as the Darkside of Tokyo. Because of the lack of Persona control, Darkside has become the home to many lawbreakers, including a gang called the "Messiah," a group led by a girl named Mai. The Messiah, though resentful of Persona and its world domination, is not interested in fighting against the corporation, until Mai saves the life of one of the Anti-Persona terrorist organization members, Tatsuya. However, even with the help of the Messiah, the AP are usually no match for Persona's resources and super-human assassins - that is, until a dark mystic, who assumes the name Darkside, shows up.

Commentary: This movie was definitely enjoyable with its action and appearance, and had a really great story. However, the ending was vague and leaves one wondering if there will be any kind of continution. It's difficult to tell if it was a "left-open-for-a-sequel" ending or a "vague-and-incomplete-and-that's-all-you-get" ending. I would say it's worth a watch.

Rating: 8/10
Reasons for Rating: Great action and story, nice character designs, ending was vague and incomplete.
