Summary: It's four years after the Twilight incident (which occurred in the PS2 games as well as .hack//LIMINALITY). Twins Shugo and Rena win a contest, giving them the characters of the legendary Dot Hackers, Kite and Black Rose. After playing the game just once, Shugo meets Aura, a young girl who caused all the hoopla in .hack//SIGN and the games, and is given the bracelet worn by Kite. Balmung, once a player who fought alongside Kite, is now a system administrator, and he, along with others in charge, is intrigued by the return of the bracelet. The mystery of .hack begins again.
Commentary: I just saw the anime very recently. I've also read the first two volumes of the manga, and I already love it. Though I haven't read all of the manga yet, and I've seen all the episodes of the anime, I have to say that I like the manga better. The manga is not released completely yet - the next volume is due in August. As for when the U.S. release of the anime is to occur, I really have no idea. The outcome of the games is mentioned (which is one downfall - if you're not interested in the games, you probably won't like this series), and since the fourth part of the game series only came out in January, they might be waiting until more people have had time to finish the games before releasing the series.
Update: For those who were wondering, the English dub of .hack//LEGEND OF THE TWILIGHT, is due out in May 2004. Just saw an ad for it in the April edition of Newtype. Also, Tokyopop has pushed the release date of the final manga back to sometime in November.

Reasons for Rating: Gorgeous animation and fun characters. I
wish it hadn't strayed so far from the manga - the vagrant AI concept
was so much more interesting in the manga than it was in the show.
