Gungrave

Number of Episodes: 26

Written by: Yasuhiro Nightow

Directed by: Toshiyuki Tsuru

Characters:

Summary: Harry and Brandon were friends and fellow members of Millenion, a crime syndicate. However, somewhere along the way, Harry betrayed his friend and murdered him. Now Brandon has been brought back to life. He seeks out revenge on Harry and wishes to protect Mika, the only child of his lost love, Maria.

Commentary: This series was created by the same person who created Trigun, so of course, I automatically liked it. There are a lot of similarities. There is a man, tormented by betrayal who seeks out revenge, but seems unsure about how to go about it. The art is very similar to Triguns, and I love the music. It has a sort of Cowboy Bebop feel to it (kind of jazzy, but of course, not nearly as good as Cowboy Bebop - can any anime top Cowboy Bebop on the music?). It seems to be a well-thought-out, intricate storyline that has many twists and turns. Gungrave seems to have all the things a good anime should have - mystery, romance, action, drama...

Rating: 10/10
Reasons for Rating: Great storyline, love the music, perfect for the people who loved Trigun.
