Summary: Inu Yasha is the story of a half-demon named Inu Yasha (literally meaning Dog Demon) and a young girl named Kagome. On Kagome's 15th birthday, she falls into a well and is sent back to Feudal Japan. Here, she finds out that she is the reincarnation of a priestess named Kikyo. She also learns about the Sacred Jewel, a powerful and beautiful thing that is sought after be many, demon and human alike. Kikyo protected the jewel from evil, and it was destroyed with her body when she died. However, Kagome finds that she is in possession of the jewel, and through an odd train of events, the jewel is split into many pieces and scattered across the land. Inu Yasha, who was pinned to a tree for 50 years by Kikyo, is awakened by Kagome, and must join her in the quest to find the pieces of the jewel.
Commentary: This is a great series, and unlike most series, is MUCH more than 26 episodes. In fact, as far as I know, the series is still running in Japan. It has spawned 3 movies and many CDs of music from the show. It can be a bit bloody at time, but it is also a beautiful love story, and is something that can be enjoyed for both its action and romance.
Rating: 9/10
Reasons for Rating: Great story, great music, excellent
character development!
