Summary: Inu Yasha is the story of a half-demon named Inu Yasha (literally meaning Dog Demon) and a young girl named Kagome. On Kagome's 15th birthday, she falls into a well and is sent back to Feudal Japan. Here, she finds out that she is the reincarnation of a priestess named Kikyo. She also learns about the Sacred Jewel, a powerful and beautiful thing that is sought after be many, demon and human alike. Kikyo protected the jewel from evil, and it was destroyed with her body when she died. However, Kagome finds that she is in possession of the jewel, and through an odd train of events, the jewel is split into many pieces and scattered across the land. Inu Yasha, who was pinned to a tree for 50 years by Kikyo, is awakened by Kagome, and must join her in the quest to find the pieces of the jewel.
Commentary: Due to the anime's popularity and widespread availability, I'm sure most fans of anime have been exposed to it. The manga is very much like the anime, though a little bloodier, it seems. However, all of the great action and romance are there. If you can't get your Inu Yasha anime fix, the manga is just as good.
Rating: 9/10
Reasons for Rating: Great storyline, love the art, wonderful characters!
