Summary: Trigun is the story of a legendary gunman with a $60 billion double-dollar bounty on his head. But, as insurance girls, Meryl and Millie find out, Vash isn't the cold-hearted killer that people make him out to be. Although he does have a darker side to him, Vash is a loveable and funny man, who tries to uphold truth and justice without senseless killing. Although he is sometimes responsible for the destruction for which he is blamed, it often comes from trying to protect, or from his incredibly rocky relationship with Knives, his brother.
Commentary: I hate to say that something is my favorite series, because I love so many other shows, but if someone had a gun to my head - a very large, heavy gun that caused them to sprout an angel arm perhaps? - I would say that Trigun was my favorite series. I love that it starts out funny and goofy and then quickly moves to deep and sad. The characters on the show are much like this too. At first, they're funloving, except maybe Meryl, but then we learn more about them and their true nature. The music is great, and really accentuates the story. Finally, I have to say I was really impressed with the English dub. I think the acting is very good and the lines are nearly a direct translation of the Japanese (except for a few differences in names and titles). Definitely a must-see for any type of anime fan!
