Characters:
Summary: Yu Yu Hakusho is the story of Yusuke, a juvenile delinquent, who surprises everyone, including Spirit World, when he heroically dives into the way of a moving car to save a young child. Because of this, and the fact that Spirit World was not prepared for him to die that day, Yusuke was given his life back, on the condition that he use his new spirit powers gained from his death to help Spirit World fight demons and protect the Human World.
Commentary: As with other anime series, I saw this one by accident, and fell in love with it right away. The first time I saw it was on Adult Swim, so I even got to see it without all of the good stuff edited out. I went to the video store 2 days later and bought Yusuke Lost, Yusuke Found. I now have a pretty good collection of Yu Yu Hakusho DVDs, and I plan on buying the movies next (this is why information on the movies is listed as Coming Soon!) I think this is an interesting idea for a series, and I really like the way it's going. It kind of sucks having to sit and wait for Funimation to release the series, when it's already out in Japan, but it's the best I can do without buying/downloading a bootleg copy off the internet. I think my DVD player will play other regions if I were to buy a copy from Japan, but who wants to pay all of that shipping? Sorry, but I guess I don't have all the information on the series. From what I've read on the internet though, the series takes a very interesting twist after the Dark Tournament.
Rating: 8/10
Reasons for Rating: I love the characters and the concept.
Definitely one of my favorites, but certainly not for everyone -
especially not for those with a weak stomach.
